Coordinator of Faith Sharing |

September, 2007
Dear
Families,
Welcome to a new year of GROWING IN FAITH TOGETHER!
I
want to call your attention to several important aspects of our new year
together:
·
The
attached calendar reflects 1) the many amazing ideas that have been shared
over the past many months among several of us; 2) my own heart’s joy and
desire to be a resource person for you as Catholic Christian families; and
3) the growing wisdom among Catholic educators throughout the U.S. that
FAMILY is where it’s happening!
·
New
names! The titles we will be using reflect a shift from “child-centered”
Religious Ed, or Faith Formation, to a focus on “Family-centered” learning
and faith-sharing:
1.
Rather than Religious Ed or Faith Formation, we will be using the name
“Faith-Sharing Family Program”, or simply “Family Program.”
2.
I am
using “Faith-Sharing Coordinator” to describe my role with you, replacing
the title “Dir. of Rel. Ed.”
·
We
will be trying a combination of longer times together (“Family Retreats”
once/month, 10:30-12noon) and shorter times (“Family Time”, 8:45-9:30am)
·
Our
learning and sharing will be done by gathering as families in the “Assembly
Hall” (church basement). Only preparations for First Eucharist will be held
in a classroom.
We
will be evaluating and making adjustments as we go along this year. I have
complete confidence in the creative power of the Spirit that animates,
inspires, challenges, and often surprises us!

forms us and acts in the world. The early church expressed this truth by
